The First Plate
Mike Young and John Zapp opened the first Chuys on Barton Springs Road in Austin, Texas. Armed with fresh recipes, bold décor, and an infectious energy, they served their first enchiladas to a neighborhood that instantly fell in love.
Growing Roots in Austin
With word spreading fast about Chuys' legendary green chile sauce and XXX hot salsa, a second Austin location opened to keep up with demand. The Chuys community grew from a neighborhood spot into a city-wide institution.
Beyond Texas
Chuys took its first steps beyond the Lone Star State, opening locations across the South and Midwest. Guests from Nashville to Atlanta discovered the Chuys experience — and quickly became devoted regulars.
A National Name
Celebrating 30 years of Tex-Mex excellence, Chuys went public on the NASDAQ exchange, marking a major milestone. The IPO brought new resources to expand the menu, modernize kitchens, and open dozens of new locations nationwide.
